Joe Bugner Passes Away

Legendary British Heavyweight Joe Bugner has died at the age of 75.

Born in Hungary, Bugner became one of the symbols of British boxing in the 1970s. Over his career, he fought 83 times (69-13-1, 41 KOs), winning the British, Commonwealth, and European titles. He shared the ring with Joe Frazier, Ron Lyle, and twice went the distance with Muhammad Ali.

In the 1980s, Bugner moved to Australia, where he earned the nickname “Aussie Joe.” His career spanned more than three decades, with his final fight taking place in 1999.

In 2014, Bugner suffered a heart attack and later battled cancer. In 2023, journalist Colin Hart reported that Bugner was living in a nursing home in Brisbane, Australia, struggling with severe dementia and unable to remember his achievements.
