Jermall Charlo: “I’ll conquer super middleweight. I want Canelo”

Former WBC middleweight world champion Jermall Charlo (33–0, 22 KOs) is set to return to the ring against Thomas LaManna (39–5–1, 18 KOs). Full stats and breakdown of the fight are available via link.

Speaking ahead of the bout, Charlo vowed he’s back for good — and coming for the biggest names, including Canelo Álvarez.

Jermall Charlo is back. I’m in much better shape than I was when I fought José Benavídez. Stylistically and tactically, LaManna should be a more serious opponent.

I’m fully focused, in great shape, and ready for this fight. Everything should go well. I’m active again. People said I was at my best when I was active — well, I’m back in the mix. I’m even more motivated now than I was before. This doesn’t make me nervous; it just makes me want to put on a show.

I’m going to conquer super middleweight. This division is wide open for me. You’ve got a new contender on your hands. My message is: get ready for me. I’m not just here for a belt — I want Canelo. First, I want Caleb Plant, and then, maybe Canelo, before it’s too late.

This is just how I present myself. I’m a man, and I want to be seen as one. I want everyone to know I’m human too. I’ve been through hard times. I’ve learned a lot about myself. Now it’s my turn to show what I’ve been working on,” Charlo told Fight Hub TV.

If Charlo defeats LaManna, he could face Caleb Plant, who is also scheduled to fight on the same card. More details on Plant’s fight are available via link.
