U.S. standout Jaron “Boots” Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) has formally relinquished his IBF welterweight crown.
Earlier on social media, Ennis confirmed that he is leaving 147 lbs and stepping up to the super-welterweight (light-middleweight) class. The updated IBF ratings, published 7 July, list the title as vacant.
Ennis captured the belt in November 2023 and defended it three times—against David Avanesyan, in a rematch with Karen Chukhadzhyan, and versus Eimantas Stanionis, unifying the IBF strap with the WBA title.
The empty throne is expected to be contested in a rematch between Lewis Crocker (IBF No. 1) and Paddy Donovan (IBF No. 3).
