ESPN journalist and insider Mike Coppinger has reported that IBF welterweight champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) and WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) are nearing a deal to face each other in the ring.
"They’re definitely getting closer to making the fight happen, and this is truly a tough challenge for Boots. In my opinion, Eimantas Stanionis is one of the most underrated fighters in all of boxing.
He lost all of 2023 due to multiple cancellations of his fights with Vergil Ortiz, but I’ve been told they’re close to finalizing a deal for April. However, nothing is signed yet.
Stanionis brings relentless pressure and can punch, so I really hope this fight gets made. It’s expected to take place on a Matchroom show broadcast by DAZN," said Coppinger.
In his last fight, Ennis defeated Karen Chukhadzhian by decision, while Stanionis outboxed Gabriel Maestre in 2024.
