Kambosos’ Opponent Was Supposed to Be a Spectator

Australian fighter Jake Willey revealed that he was originally planning to attend George Kambosos’ fight as a spectator—but now, he will be stepping into the ring against him.

Kambosos was initially set to fight Daud Yordan, but Yordan pulled out just a week before the fight. Wiley, who was already in training, stepped in to replace him.

Wiley said:

"I’m absolutely ready—100%. I was already in shape, set to fight in three weeks. So, I’m not coming off the couch. We had tickets for this fight—so I’ll be telling Eddie [Hearn] I want my $50 back!

It’s exciting to face someone of Kambosos’ stature, considering what he’s done for Australian boxing. I was at his first fight against Haney, and the atmosphere was incredible—he sold out the arena. I’ve always believed he can be beaten. He’s fought sharp, slick boxers, but I don’t think he’s faced someone tough, durable, and capable of delivering real power—that’s what I bring to this fight."
