Cruiserweight boxer and influencer Jake Paul has responded to comments from Ryan Garcia, who said that boxing officially turned into WWE after the announcement of Paul’s fight against WBA Lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.
“Is that bad? WWE is a $12 billion company.
I think he’s mad because I’m getting the chance to beat Tank, while he was knocked out and humiliated. Obviously, his insecurities came out,” Paul said.
Garcia later fired back at Jake:
“It’s really sad to see how dishonest Jake is.
You weigh over 200 pounds, you’ll make 195, and then probably rehydrate to 215. And you’re lying to yourself to hype yourself up, fighting a 135-pounder, and you don’t see how misleading that is. Lying to yourself is bad.
I really have no problem with Jake Paul, my problem is with his blatant disregard for the truth about this fight. He acts like it’s fair — that he’s a heavyweight fighting a lightweight — and talks as if he’s having a legitimate fight with Tank.
So when I said it’s like WWE, I meant it’s an illusion. Just be honest with yourself, stop lying to yourself.
Dana White said it, and I’ll say it — this isn’t hate, just fight someone your own size. I liked his fight with Chavez Jr., they were basically the same size, and he got full credit from me and everyone else. So this isn’t hate, it’s just about keeping order,” Garcia wrote on Twitter.
The fight between Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) will take place on November 14 in Miami.
