American influencer and cruiserweight boxer Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) addressed the criticism surrounding his fight against former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs).
"I have no response to the reaction about the fight with Tyson. I don’t care what people say about what I’m doing. If someone in my life has something to say, they’ll text me.
If you don’t have my number, I don’t care about you. Every message I’ve received has been along the lines of ‘the greatest event in history,’ ‘incredible,’ ‘you’re the face of boxing,’ and it’s all love, love, love—and that’s all I care about.
People are just angry because BoxRec will now forever show that I beat Mike Tyson. I had the greatest fight in boxing history. The numbers speak for themselves, so people can say whatever they want. If they can show someone with better results, then we’ll talk," said Paul.
On November 15, Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson via unanimous decision. The 58-year-old Tyson returned to the ring for an official bout for the first time since June 2005. The fight was scheduled for 8 rounds of 2 minutes each, and the result was officially added to the boxers' records.
According to Netflix, the fight was watched live by 60 million households worldwide, with peak viewership reaching 65 million, making it one of the highest-viewed events of 2024.
