Jake Paul: “Gervonta Has Skills and Experience, but I Have the Advantage in Weight and Height”

American influencer and Heavyweight boxer Jake Paul has shared his view on the upcoming clash with fellow countryman, WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis.

I don’t care (about the criticism). First of all, they’ll tune in anyway. Everyone will watch this fight. And you know what I tell people? If you don’t like it, don’t talk about it — because when you do, you just make it bigger. At the end of the day, people will always have something to say about every one of my fights.

I’m fighting one of the top-10 pound-for-pound fighters in the world. This is a bigger risk for Gervonta than it ever was for Floyd Mayweather when he fought Conor McGregor in 2017. Conor wasn’t a boxer. He didn’t have a weight advantage. Gervonta is risking more, and that works in his favor — considering the weight difference. And that’s exactly what makes this fight even: his skills and top-10 experience versus my weight and height advantage.

I think there are very few names in sports that can sell out arenas, entertain, and at the same time actually be world-class fighters. That’s why I’ve always wanted to face him. I love big events. I love to challenge myself. I’ve always seen this as a real fight and a winnable one. And when two big personalities like us collide, one plus one equals three. That’s what makes it so exciting,” said Jake.

The fight between Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) will take place on November 14 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, USA, streamed live on Netflix. Fight rules will be announced later. In their most recent bouts, Davis weighed 60.7 kg at 166 cm, while Paul came in at 90.4 kg and 185 cm tall.
