Boxer and YouTuber Jake Paul responded to criticism regarding his upcoming opponent, Julio César Chávez Jr., whom he will face on June 28 in the United States.
“Julio César Chávez is a former world champion. A world champion at cruiserweight. He’s the same weight as me, the same size as me. And he has 20 more years of boxing experience than I do.
But let’s put the excuses aside. Last week, Paddy Pimblett (UFC fighter) beat Michael Chandler, and the whole world went crazy. Yet no one brought up Chandler’s age — even though he’s the same age as Julio César Chávez Jr. (Chandler is 38, Chávez is 39).
If people don’t have a problem with Paddy, why do they have a problem with me? So when I beat him, don’t you dare cry about his age,” said Paul.
Chávez returned to the ring in 2024 after nearly a three-year layoff, winning a decision in his comeback fight.
