American influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KO) has broken into the WBA’s latest list after outpointing Julio César Chávez Jr. (54-7-1, 34 KO).
Paul debuts at No. 14 in the organisation’s newly released Cruiserweight rankings (200-lb limit). The listing means he is now eligible to pursue a title shot against unified WBA & WBO champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez (48-1, 30 KO).
Both men shared the bill on 28 June in Anaheim, USA. Paul beat Chávez Jr. by unanimous decision, while Ramírez retained his belts in a points win over Yuniel Dorticos. The show closed with a ringside staredown between the two potential rivals.
