Jai Opetaia Didn’t Suffer Serious Injuries in Cinkara Fight

Jai Opetaia / Matchroom Boxing

Mick Francis, the promoter of IBF Cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia, told The Ring that his fighter came through the bout against Huseyin Cinkara without any serious injuries following their December 6 fight in Australia. Earlier reports suggested Opetaia might have suffered a possible orbital fracture.

“Jai went fishing the day after the fight, and last night he went out to dinner with family and friends.

He’s fine, and the doctor said Jai doesn’t have any injuries, and his cheekbone will heal over the next few weeks,” said Francis.

Opetaia knocked Cinkara out in the eighth round. The challenger has been diagnosed with brain and neck injuries.
