Jai Opetaia on a Possible Clash with Usyk: "You Can't Say No"

IBF cruiserweight champion (up to 90.7 kg) Jai Opetaia (26-0, 20 KOs) shared his thoughts on a possible matchup against Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), the holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles (over 90.7 kg).

That’s a fight I’d 100% agree to, but right now I need to focus on my own work. We’re pushing for unification fights in cruiserweight, and that’s our priority at the moment.

A fight with Usyk is something for the future—if it ever happens. Of course, it’s a match I can only dream about, and it would be incredible… You can’t say no to things like that. We’ll discuss it with the team and make a decision, but for now it’s just outside noise,” said Opetaia.

On January 8, Jai Opetaia will defend his title against David Nyika. A link to detailed stats and a preview of the upcoming fight can be found here.
