Former world champion Tony Bellew shared his thoughts on a potential bout against IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia (26-0, 20 KOs). The Brit admitted that Opetaia would pose a significant challenge for him.
"For me, he’s a genuine stylistic nightmare. He’s a southpaw with real punching power, so there are already multiple issues to deal with. Plus, he knows how to fight in close range, which gives him a lot of advantages.
I would gladly accept the challenge, and I have to say he does leave some openings. I’d need to make the most of them, but it would be a tough night. That’s what I can say about him," said Bellew.
Jai Opetaia is scheduled to face David Nyika on January 8 in Broadbeach, Australia.
