Jack Catterall: "Next Year I Will Be a World Champion"

British super lightweight boxer Jack Catterall (30-1, 13 KOs) discussed his victory over American Regis Prograis (29-3, 24 KOs) in an interview with Ready to Fight.

– What did you learn today in the fight against two-time world champion Regis Prograis, especially after being knocked down for the first time in your career?

"Yes, when you go 12 rounds with a two-time world champion who has fought some of the best boxers in the sport and won championship titles, you learn a lot. I had never been down before, so that was a new experience. I have a lot of experience now, but I have a great team that helps me stay calm when the situation—not that it gets out of control, but when it starts to go against me. The key is to remain calm, composed, and listen to my team’s advice."

You had an excellent southpaw in your corner—Jamie Moore, who entertained fans during his career. Did he really help you tactically adjust in this chess match?

"Yes, absolutely. It was a cautious fight at the start; I probably gave away a few rounds. I was just trying to win a few more, but after I got knocked down, I felt I came back stronger. I needed to take more risks, but that depended on me as a fighter. At the same time, Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis great advice played a significant role in the corner."

– Final question: Will 2025 be a championship year for you? The division is very competitive, but you’re very close to the title.

– "I’ll take a short break, then get right back to work. I believe in this and will work towards it—I will be a world champion next year."

As a reminder, on October 26 in Manchester, United Kingdom, Jack Catterall won against Regis Prograis by unanimous decision. Jack was knocked down in the 5th round, while his opponent was down twice in the 9th and again in the 12th.
