“You Will See the Result of My Life’s Work”: Jack Catterall on the Bout Against Prograis

British boxer Jack Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) shared his thoughts on the vacant WBO International title fight in the super lightweight division (up to 63.5 kg) against American Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) in an exclusive interview with Ready to Fight. The bout is set for October 26 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

This is a big night for you, isn’t it? A new Co-op arena, a grand event, and a very interesting fight against Regis Prograis—an opponent you respect but need to defeat.

– “Yes, I have to get through him. Apart from world champions, Regis is among the best. I believe this fight deserves a title shot. We both understand that the winner will get a chance at the title. I’m putting pressure on myself, but I feel excited. New arenas aren’t built every day, and it’s an honor for me to fight at Co-op Live. I’m ready.

The fans will support you fully, right? A big fight in Britain between two elite boxers.

– “Of course! This is the kind of fight boxing needs. I know many fights are being held in the Middle East or America right now, but we deserve these kinds of bouts here. That’s why I’m in this sport—to make these fights and compete with the best. I consider Regis one of the best, but I’m confident that I’m better.

You achieved an important victory over Josh Taylor, finally getting what you’ve been striving for. What can we expect tomorrow against Prograis?

– “You will see the result of my life’s work. This isn’t just preparation for this fight—it’s my entire journey since I first put on gloves at the age of 11. And now the moment has come: to beat Regis and become first in line for the world champion title.

In May, Jack Catterall won a unanimous decision against Josh Taylor (19-2, 13 KOs). Regis Prograis last stepped into the ring in December, losing a unanimous decision to Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).
