Isaac Cruz's promoter, Sean Gibbons, is confident that a match between his client and Ryan Garcia is more likely than a fight between Garcia and Rolando Romero:
"Garcia has been trash-talking Isaac for two years, saying all sorts of stuff about him and claiming that Cruz avoids opponents, but Ryan should understand better than anyone that boxing is a business. You fight to entertain people, but it's for money. Everyone understands that on this journey, timing is everything. Mayweather wants Garcia to fight Romero, but the fight that needs to happen is Garcia vs. Cruz. Styles make fights. There have been a lot of good discussions between everyone, and we hope something comes out of it. Ryan will return to the ring in April, and Isaac is ready; he's training and ready for a fight. It's not about titles or weight classes; it's about the fights people want to see," said Gibbons.
Previously, Ryan Garcia had expressed his desire to face WBA champion Rolando Romero.
