According to journalist and insider Fernando Sabatini, the top contender in all prestigious lightweight (61.2 kg) rankings, William Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs), is set to return to the ring on November 16 in Saudi Arabia.
The most likely opponents for the Mexican boxer are Australian George Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) or American Tevin Farmer (33-6-1, 8 KOs). Both fighters are making a comeback after losses to Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) and Raymond Muratalla (21-0, 16 KOs), respectively.
It was initially expected that William would face American WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs), but the parties could not reach an agreement.
Sabatini’s sources also confirm that in November, Ukrainian WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) will defend his title against Briton Mark Chamberlain (16-0, 12 KOs), who is scheduled to fight compatriot Josh Pedley (14-0, 4 KOs) on September 21. If successful, Berinchyk could face American boxer Keyshawn Davis (11-0, 7 KOs).
Denys last fought in May against Mexican Emanuel Navarrete (38-2-1, 31 KOs) and won via split decision.
