According to insider Julius Julianis, an agreement has been reached for a fight between WBC lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) and Joe Cordina (17-1, 9 KOs).
The bout is scheduled for October 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the undercard of the Bivol vs. Beterbiev event.
Shakur has signed a one-fight deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, as he intends to remain a free agent in 2025 to negotiate a potential fight with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).
Shakur Stevenson last fought in July, defeating Artem Harutyunyan (12-2, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision.
Joe Cordina last fought in May against Anthony Cacace (22-1, 8 KOs), losing by technical knockout in the 8th round and surrendering his IBO super featherweight title (up to 59 kg).
