Insider Reports Berinchyk vs. Navarrete Fight Date

According to ESPN journalist Salvador Rodriguez, WBO International lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) and WBO super featherweight champion (up to 58.9 kg) Mexican Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) will fight on May 18.

The bout will take place in San Diego, USA, likely at Pechanga.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) previously officially sanctioned the fight between Berinchyk and Navarrete for the vacant WBO lightweight title. Navarrete used his "super champion" status, which allows him to fight for a title immediately upon moving to a new weight class. Denys is the official challenger for the vacant title.

In his last fight, Emanuel Navarrete fought to a draw against Robson Conceicao. Following that, Navarrete underwent surgery on his left hand. Berinchyk last entered the ring in August 2023, winning against Anthony Yigit by unanimous decision.

It's worth noting that on May 18, Oleksandr Usyk will be boxing against Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia.
