Inoue Declines US Fight Invitations

Naoya Inoue (26-0, 23 KOs), the undisputed super bantamweight champion (up to 55.2 kg) from Japan, responded to those urging him to come to the US to prove his level. "Regarding comments asking me to come to the US and prove something. The homeland of the lighter divisions is now here, in Japan.

If you want to watch a fight, come to Japan. If there is something better in America than what is available in the Japanese market, I would gladly go there. But the main value is here now," Inoue wrote.

Inoue's next fight will take place at Tokyo Dome, where the last boxing match held was when 'Buster' Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson.

Inoue has fought three times in the US—against Antonio Nieves in 2017, and against Jason Moloney and Michael Dasmarinas in 2020 and 2021, respectively, winning all three fights by knockout.
