Inoue vs. Akhmadaliev in Final Negotiation Stage — Promoter

A showdown between undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (29-0, 26 KOs) and WBA interim titleholder Murodjon Akhmadaliev (13-1, 10 KOs) is nearing completion, according to Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn.

Hearn confirmed that the fight is in its final stages of negotiation and revealed when and where it is expected to take place.

We’re finalizing the terms for Akhmadaliev vs. Inoue in September. Inoue’s upcoming fight with Cárdenas can only be for the undisputed title if we allow it — because he’s been ordered to face Akhmadaliev for the title.

If he doesn’t, he’ll be stripped. We’re working on an agreement with Mr. Honda (Inoue’s manager) to let him delay again, but in September, Inoue will fight Akhmadaliev in Japan. The terms are agreed — the contract just needs to be signed,” said Hearn.

Naoya Inoue is set to defend his titles against Ramon Cárdenas on May 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.

Murodjon Akhmadaliev last fought in December, defeating Ricardo Espinoza via third-round TKO.
