Undisputed super bantamweight (up to 55.3 kg) champion Naoya Inoue (27-0, 24 KOs), following his victory over Luis Nery (35-2, 27 KOs), named his next opponent. The Japanese fighter wants to meet the mandatory IBF title challenger, Australian Sam Goodman (18-0, 8 KOs).
"I'm eagerly awaiting negotiations for the fight against Sam Goodman in September," said Inoue.
Goodman immediately expressed his readiness:
"I've been the mandatory challenger for over a year - vacate the titles or fight me. Let's get this done," said Sam.
In his previous fight, Inoue knocked out Luis Neri in the sixth round. Goodman won against Mark Schleibus by TKO in March 2024.
