Inoue Recognized as Japan's Boxer of the Year

Naoya Inoue (26-0, 23 KOs), the undisputed world champion in the super flyweight division (up to 55.2 kg), continues to etch his name in the annals of Japanese boxing history. He has been awarded the "Boxer of the Year in Japan" by the Japan Sports Press Association and the Japan Boxing Commission. Inoue received the award for the best knockout and fight of the year, while Naoya's father, Shingo, was named Coach of the Year.

This decision marks the sixth consecutive win for Naoya, unanimously made.

"I want to continue winning until the end of my career," said Inoue.

In 2023, Naoya became the first Japanese boxer in history to become a two-time undisputed champion with four major belts. Inoue's next fight will be on May 6 in Tokyo against the mandatory WBC challenger Luis Nery (35-1, 27 KOs).
