On May 4, in Las Vegas, undisputed super bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue (29-0, 26 KOs) is set to face American challenger Ramon Cardenas (26-1, 14 KOs) at T-Mobile Arena. But according to boxing insider Rick Glaser, ticket sales have been nothing short of disastrous.
“According to multiple sources, ticket sales for Inoue’s May 4 fight at T-Mobile Arena—broadcast on ESPN—are completely dead. So dead, they might as well be given last rites! Inoue’s team is furious over this promotional disaster.
And who’s the promoter to blame? None other than Top Rank. This is what boxing from Top Rank looks like these days,” Glaser wrote.
Despite Inoue’s elite status and undefeated record, the bout has failed to generate buzz in the U.S. boxing market. The likely culprit? Fierce competition during fight week.
Just days earlier, fans will witness a blockbuster lineup:
– May 2, New York: Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, and Devin Haney are all scheduled to appear.
– May 3, Riyadh: Canelo Álvarez faces unbeaten William Scull in a high-profile showdown.
