The International Testing Agency (ITA), acting for the International Boxing Association (IBA), has imposed a two-year ban on Russian boxer Imam Khataev.
The sanction follows an out-of-competition sample collected on 9 April 2024 that tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolites. Clomiphene is listed under WADA’s Prohibited List (S4: hormonal and metabolic modulators) and is banned at all times. Athletes may abuse the drug to boost testosterone levels.
Both parties may appeal the decision. Khataev had been scheduled to face David Morrell in the United States on 12 July, but that fight is now off.
