The 52‑year‑old Nigerian heavyweight Ike Ibeabuchi (20‑0, 15 KOs) will face Danny Williams (55‑33, 42 KOs) on 23 August in Lagos, Nigeria.
In 2004 Williams knocked out Mike Tyson in the fourth round. He boxed on through 2023, facing the likes of Albert Sosnowski, Derek Chisora, Mairis Briedis, and other notable opponents. In his most recent bout, he lost by decision.
Ibeabuchi was convicted in 1999 of battery with intent to commit a crime and attempted sexual assault. At that time his record stood at 20 wins (15 by KO) with no defeats.
In 2015 Ibeabuchi was released from prison, only to be incarcerated again in 2016. In 2020 he was released for good—having been deemed unfit to stand trial due to bipolar disorder.
