IBF Will Not Strip Usyk-Fury Winner?

The promoter of WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and CBDO Ready To Fight Alexander Krassyuk commented on the information that the International Boxing Federation (IBF) will strip the title from the winner of the bout between Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).

«We have not received a final decision from the IBF. Ideally, it should be like this: after the fight, when the winner is known, the IBF should mandate a fight with the mandatory challenger. If the champion refuses to defend, then they will be stripped of the title and a fight for the vacant title will be announced. That’s how it works. But we have to wait and see how it plays out this time,» said Krassyuk.

The bout for the title of undisputed world heavyweight champion between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will take place on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
