"I Won." Fury's First Comments About Fight Against Usyk

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) gave his first extensive interview since his bout with undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).

Recall that on May 18, in the fight for the title of undisputed world heavyweight champion, Usyk defeated Fury by a split decision. After the match, both fighters agreed to a rematch, scheduled for December 21, 2024.

"I've watched the fight many times. My opinion hasn't changed – I won. Usyk knows he didn't beat me. I boxed and outmaneuvered him for most of the rounds. Actually, it turned out to be easier than I thought. People said he was hard to hit, but I broke him down with combinations and laughed at him. My problem was that I was probably having too much fun. It was too easy. It was like I was boxing with a local amateur. I enjoyed myself too much and paid a high price in the ninth round. I heard he has a broken jaw and eye socket, so get well soon, and I'll see you in December for the Christmas extravaganza in Saudi Arabia.

In the rematch, I need to knock him out because I won't win by judges' decision. And it's very frustrating because it's hard enough to just win a fight, let alone win by knockout. But I'm confident and looking forward to this fight.

The bar incident? I got drunk about two weeks ago and fell face-first. But I didn't get any injury, still looking good. I received a lot of messages and calls from people asking if I was okay. An adult man had a drunken night, and suddenly people think I'm going to jump in front of a train. Obviously, because of my past, people are worried, but I was just relaxing and spending time with my family. I had three training camps one after another. In September last year, I had a training camp for Ngannou, then I didn't train, had about two weeks off. I went back to camp for the fight with Usyk, but it didn't happen because of a cut. I trained over Christmas, New Year, until early February. Then I had a few weeks off, and then I went back to the gym for preparation for the fight in May. So I trained for quite a long time. It's good to have a little break, but my break is different from other people's breaks because I still train five times a week," Fury said.
