In an interview with the YouTube channel J Calderon Boxing Talk, IBF mandatory heavyweight contender Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) discussed his plans for his next fight.
- What's your current status? Are you in line for a title fight?
- The status is that I'm the best heavyweight in the world and waiting for my chance to prove it.
- So, you're still waiting for the Fury vs. Usyk fight so that you can fight for the IBF belt afterward?
- Yes, most likely, I'll be fighting for the vacant IBF title this summer. We'll see.
- Is it going to be a fight against Joshua?
- Yes. I think I'll be fighting him this summer, but let's see. In boxing, you never know what will happen.
- You're planning to fight soon, even before the title match. Is this to stay busy?
- I hope so. I don't know, we'll see, but I hope my next fight will be against Joshua.
Hrgovic last entered the ring in December of the previous year, securing a technical knockout victory over Mark De Mori (41-3-2, 36 KOs).
Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) will face Francis Ngannou (0-1) on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
