Hrgovic and Dubois Could Battle for the Title

American insider Dan Rafael and BoxingScene report that the bout between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois could be for the full IBF championship belt.

Currently, Oleksandr Usyk holds the title, but on May 18, he is set to face Tyson Fury in a fight for the IBF, WBO, WBC, WBA, and IBO heavyweight belts. The WBO and WBC have already confirmed they could sanction a rematch, as stipulated in the contract between Usyk and Fury. The IBF and WBA have not yet announced their position, but according to IBF rules, they do not approve contract-stipulated rematches that interfere with mandatory title defenses.

Hrgovic is the mandatory challenger specifically for the IBF line. The fight against Dubois could take place after the unification match – on June 1.

Additionally, there has been information that the winner of the Dubois-Hrgovic match could potentially face Anthony Joshua in another fight for the IBF title. Joshua is ranked third by the International Boxing Federation.
