Hrgovic Open to Facing Usyk on May 18

Croatian boxer Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) mentions the possibility of facing WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) on May 18. However, if Usyk is set to fight WBC titleholder Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), Filip is leaning towards the Ukrainian.

"Of course, it's a tough fight for both of them. They're great fighters, but I give a slight edge to Usyk because I think he's the better, more complete fighter overall.

He's better prepared, he's quicker, he has better footwork, he throws more punches, he's more accurate, and he has better technique. Just overall, I see him as the better fighter, and he's always in good shape, always strong mentally.

Tyson Fury has his ups and downs. Of course, Tyson Fury can beat him if he delivers an excellent performance, but I give a slight advantage to Usyk.

I'm ready to enter the ring even tomorrow. It's not up to me. I've said I was ready even for March 8. I'm ready, waiting for the contract to be signed. I'm ready to make a deal. Something is happening now, but it's not signed yet. I hope you'll see me in the ring as soon as possible.

You might see me on the undercard of Usyk vs. Fury. Maybe. Anything can happen, that's life. We'll see. I hope. Maybe you'll see me against Usyk on May 18. Maybe Fury will get another cut or something happens. I'm here, ready for that fight," Hrgovic said.

Filip is the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title currently held by Usyk. In his last fight, in December 2023, Filip knocked out Mark de Mori in the first round. He currently does not have a new opponent.
