How Many People Will Be in Fury’s Corner? The British Fighter’s Coach Explains

The trainer of former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), SugarHill Steward, has revealed who will be working Fury’s corner this time around.

SugarHill Steward:

Fury is ready, and so am I personally. Tyson has always been lighthearted and playful, but now things will be different. He’s 100% ready.

We’re training as we always do, just as Emanuel Steward taught me. It’s always about inflicting pain, pain, and scoring knockouts. That’s what was written on the walls of the Kronk Gym.

The harder you work, the bigger the reward. Fury is determined to show some real boxing on Saturday.

In Tyson’s corner, it will only be me, Andy Lee, and the cutman—nothing more.

After the previous fight, Fury’s corner came under criticism for overly active involvement from everyone present. In addition to the aforementioned names, Tyson’s father, John Fury, was also there last time.

Frank Warren, Fury’s Promoter:

As you know, he didn’t even speak to his wife for several months while he was in training camp. He reduced the number of people around him.

I hardly spoke with him at all. He just wouldn’t take calls; his phone was turned off.

Tyson was fully focused on the upcoming fight. When I saw him on the red carpet, I thought, ‘He’s in great shape and in the right place mentally,’” Warren said.

The rematch will take place on December 21 in Riyadh. In their first encounter in May, Usyk won by a split decision.
