"It Demeans Mike." Hopkins on Tyson vs. Paul Fight

In an interview with FightHub TV, former boxer Bernard Hopkins commented on the upcoming fight between YouTuber Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) and former undisputed champion Mike Tyson.

"I don't like it. I don't like it.

I look at Mike, I see him differently than I do Ali. I looked at Ali differently too. Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Robinson.

I don't like it. I think this fight will be a sideshow where we'll see sweat and, maybe, blood if we're lucky.

I won't be watching it. I could watch two turtles race and be more excited.

It's about how I view Mike Tyson. I shared not just the ring with Mike but a piece of that era. I just think it demeans him. But he's getting 100–200 million," said Hopkins.

On May 11, 2011, at the age of 46 years, 4 months, and 10 days, Bernard Hopkins became the oldest person ever to win a world boxing championship. On March 9, 2013, he surpassed his own record and became champion at 48 years, 1 month, and 22 days. On April 19, 2014, he became the oldest person to defend and unify world titles at the age of 49 years, 3 months, and 4 days. The American's overall record is 55-8-2, 32 KOs.

The fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is scheduled for July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be broadcast on Netflix. It is still unknown whether the fight will be an exhibition or a full-fledged bout.
