Hopkins: "Canelo Will Finish His Career with Benavides"

Bernard Hopkins, the oldest world champion in boxing history and one of the heads of the promotional company Golden Boy, believes that the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 168 lbs) Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) has special plans for David Benavides (28-0, 24 KOs), who is called the most desired opponent for Canelo.

"Canelo is going to use Benavides for his last fight. If not, it will be his next fight.

Canelo is not stupid. He understands that he's facing a tough fight. I don't blame him if he wants to have 3 fights before retiring, so why not save the toughest opponent for last?" said Hopkins.

Alvarez's next fight is on May 4. His opponent will be the Mexican Jaime Munguia. In the summer, Benavides will box against Alexander Gvozdyk for the WBC "interim" light heavyweight title (up to 175 lbs).
