Hiraoka Stops Barroso Early

On September 3 in Tokyo, Japan, a bout took place between interim WBA super lightweight champion, Venezuelan Ismael Barroso (25-5-2, 23 KOs), and local fighter Andy Hiraoka (24-0, 19 KOs).

Throughout the fight, Barroso was knocked down three times—first in the 6th round, and then twice more in the 9th. Each time, the Venezuelan managed to get up and seemed ready to continue, but his corner ultimately stopped the fight. TKO 9.

This loss marks Barroso's second defeat in his last three fights. For Hiraoka, this victory is his tenth consecutive stoppage win.
