Fury's boxing manager, Frank Warren, has sounded the bell on a slight delay for the much-anticipated ring dance between the Gypsy King and Oleksandr Usyk.
Warren, who plays the cornerman in Fury's promotional ring, spilled the beans on the heavyweight tussle to unite the four coveted belts, revealing a new timeline that sees the fight skipping a few months down the pugilistic calendar.
"Fury's taking a breather," Warren disclosed, underscoring that the WBC champ's respite isn't a sign of wear and tear from his recent tango with Ngannou but a strategic pit stop to refuel for the mega clash. "Twelve weeks in the grindhouse, even for a top-tier fighter like Tyson, calls for a little R&R to prime the engines," Warren asserted, pinpointing the champ's commitment to entering the squared circle in peak form.
Usyk last fought Joshua in August. Fury agreed to the match in December. The delay in unifying the belts is compared to historical waits in boxing. Warren cites the long-awaited Lewis vs. Tyson and the never-happened Lennox vs. Bowe fights. Even Pacquiao and Mayweather took ages to happen.
"History's our guide here, and it says good things come to fight fans who wait. This isn't a tease. It's a promise," Warren laid it on thick for SecondsOut.
"Get ready for the sparks to fly when these two juggernauts collide – it's not just a fight. It's the stuff of legend, set to unfold before our very eyes."
