“Time Is Running Out.” Hearn on Joshua Fighting in 2025

Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing and promoter of 36-year-old former Heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, spoke about whether his fighter will step into the ring in 2025.

“Right now we’re discussing many potential fights and agreements — some of them could include a tune-up fight this year, and some do not. But it’s already November, and December is coming very soon, so there’s less and less time left if we really plan to get into the ring before the end of the year.

The advantage of such a fight is that it could be organized literally within a few weeks. There’s no need to sell tickets, hold press conferences, or film promotional videos — all of that would be pointless, because the fight would be solely for Anthony himself.

A fight like this would help Joshua get back into rhythm, maintain his form — physically and mentally. It’s not a mandatory step, but the possibility is there. However, with each passing day, it becomes less and less realistic,” Hearn said.

Earlier, it was reported that Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) could fight on December 20 in Ghana on the undercard of the bout between Craig Richards and Dan Azeez.

The British fighter last fought in September 2024, when he was knocked out in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois.
