Promoter and head of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, shared his thoughts on Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) ahead of his bout against Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs).
«I think Josh, considering his achievements, hasn’t really gotten the recognition he deserves. Maybe it’s because he’s Scottish. We know he is highly respected in Scotland and probably the best fighter from Scotland alongside Ken Buchanan. But we, as Englishmen, don’t tend to support Scottish sportsmen and athletes, perhaps as it should be.
His achievements are quite incredible. He is one of the greatest Scots, Britons in history, however you want to call it. Respect his achievements, but none of it will matter on Saturday,» said Hearn.
The fight between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will take place on May 25 in Leeds, UK.
In their first bout, Taylor defeated Catterall by split decision. This was Josh’s first and only defense of his undisputed world champion status – he subsequently lost 3 of the 4 titles, and the last remaining WBO belt he lost to Teofimo Lopez.
