Promoter and head of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn shared his opinion on when to organize the rematch between undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).
«Frank Warren and Bob Arum are saying the rematch could take place as late as early 2025. But I hope not. It’s only May now. Yes, they really need 6-8 weeks of rest, and then to get back into camp. So hopefully it will be October-November. We don’t want these guys fighting once a year at their age, so hopefully, they can have the rematch, and yes, hopefully, in 2024,» said Hearn.
On the night of May 19, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion. Usyk is the first undisputed champion in this division since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in a rematch.
