Hearn Says Crawford vs. Ennis Is the Best Fight in Boxing — And It’s Not Canelo

Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn believes the best fight for Terence Crawford right now isn’t the mega-bout with Canelo Álvarez, but a technical masterclass against the newly crowned unified welterweight champion Jaron Ennis.

Ennis vs. Crawford — that’s the best fight in boxing. An incredible matchup. Sure, Crawford has Canelo in front of him. But for me, as a boxing fan, these are the two most technically brilliant fighters out there. Ennis has unreal skills, a massive ring IQ, great footwork — but on top of that, he’s ruthless.

Look back at some of the great technicians in history — they didn’t always have that killer instinct, that knockout mentality. But Boots does. He’s 34-0, with 30 KOs. That’s rare. He loves taking opponents apart. Obviously, we’re riding a bit of a high after today’s performance, and now we want to challenge the world. I truly believe Ennis is a special talent. This fight would firmly place him in the pound-for-pound rankings, and he’d only rise from there,” said Hearn.

Jaron Ennis recently stopped Eimantas Stanionis in six dominant rounds, claiming the WBA, IBF, and The Ring titles to become the unified welterweight champion.
