Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn has declared WBC super flyweight champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (21-0, 14 KOs) as the next major star in the sport of boxing.
“For me, it’s Bam Rodriguez. Because of his age. He’s at a slight disadvantage because he fights at super flyweight (52.2 kg), but he has the potential to move up to bantamweight (53.5 kg) and super bantamweight (55.3 kg). He’s already a two-division champion. I believe he will become at least a four-division world champion.
Yes, I think he’ll be one of the biggest fighters of his generation. To be honest, I also believe Shakur Stevenson will be big. If he steps into the ring and beats Gervonta Davis, that will make him a superstar,” Hearn said.
In November, Jesse Rodriguez successfully defended his WBC title, scoring a third-round knockout over Pedro Guevara.
