Eddie Hearn Reveals When Johnny Fisher Will Return

Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing, has shared details about the next steps for British heavyweight Johnny Fisher following the first loss of his career.

“We’re planning for him to return sometime in November or December. It’ll be either an eight- or ten-round fight.

When you’re working with a new trainer and coming off a knockout loss, you need a fight that brings back confidence. In the heavyweight division, every bout carries risk—but Johnny is still young, he’s got time, and we just want to make the right moves before pushing toward the big fights in 2026.

I expected him to beat Dave Allen—both in Saudi Arabia and again in London. You saw the crowd at the Copper Box—completely sold out. The loss obviously set him back in terms of our plans, because I thought he was headed toward British and Commonwealth title fights, selling out venues like the Copper Box and O2 Arena.

But there’s still time for that, and I think he’ll learn a lot from this defeat.”

On 17 May, Johnny Fisher (13-1, 11 KOs) suffered the first loss of his professional career, falling to David Allen via fifth-round TKO.
