Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn has proposed that American Blair Cobbs face Ukrainian Karen Chukhadzhian. The 34-year-old Cobbs had questioned Hearn about a fight with Ennis:
“You say you want to take things to the next level. But I’m still the only welterweight who’s fought a big name, so why not make this fight happen? You want a fight with a known boxer? That’s Blair Cobbs,” Cobbs told Hearn.
Hearn responded, “No, I’m afraid that’s not quite the case. I think you’re a great guy. I’ve got a good match for you—Karen Chukhadzhian. Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll set you up with a fight against Karen, alright? If you beat him, I’ll arrange a bout with a big-name boxer.
Who? Maybe Conor Benn, maybe Jaron Ennis. But we want to take things to the next level. No, you haven’t done enough in your career to fight Jaron Ennis,” Hearn replied to Cobbs.
In his previous fight, Cobbs defeated Adrien Broner by unanimous decision, knocking him down in the process.
