Promoter and head of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn shared his opinion on who he believes is the favorite in the rematch between undisputed world heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).
"Usyk probably thinks he can win the rematch, and in my opinion, he is the favorite. The rematch has to happen because the first fight was excellent. In my view, Usyk won.
For me, it was a close fight, and some might disagree, but it was still close and competitive. As much as I would like to see AJ fight Fury or Usyk, I think the rematch should happen, and I am confident it will take place in October in Riyadh," said Hearn.
Earlier, Bob Arum, Fury's co-promoter, mentioned that the rematch could happen in October or December 2024.
On the night of May 19, Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) defeated Tyson Fury by split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The Ukrainian is the first undisputed champion in this division since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in their rematch.
