British promoter Eddie Hearn has laid out the key term for setting up a showdown between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
Hearn explained that the possibility of a Joshua-Wilder fight hinges on the aftermath of the Fury-Usyk bout. "Post the Fury-Usyk tussle, if it rolls out, there's a good shot the belts get split, especially the IBF. Should that unfold and Joshua take down Otto Wallin come December 23, we're eyeballing Hrgovic vs. Joshua. But the ink on the Joshua-Wilder contract will be dry by then.
Once we hit that mark, there's no turning back – we're pedaling to the metal, aiming to seal the Wilder scrap and the WBC final eliminator, or as I'd dub it, the ultimate clash in the ring.
This epic bout is only on the cards if both champs clinch wins on December 23, the same fight night. That's when this match-up morphs into boxing's mega clash," Hearn detailed.
The December 23 event in Saudi Arabia will feature Joshua and Wilder in different bouts – Wilder squaring off against Joseph Parker and Joshua facing Otto Wallin.
