The founder and president of Matchroom Sport, Barry Hearn, stated that former champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) is eager to have a third fight against the current WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
"Joshua wants to beat Usyk. Because in the first fight with Usyk, frankly speaking, he was outclassed. He regrouped, studied his mistakes, and still lost in the rematch. That’s why he was so disappointed after the second fight.
It was a split decision, and the fight was close, but Anthony Joshua is a very special athlete. Money is great. He’s got more than enough, enough to fill the cargo hold of a battleship. But he wants to win.
These guys want to win and leave behind a legacy. I don’t think Anthony Joshua will sleep peacefully until he becomes the undisputed champion," Hearn said.
On September 21, at Wembley Stadium in London, UK, Anthony Joshua will face IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs).
Oleksandr Usyk is set to have a rematch against Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
