Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn, who manages former world champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), has shared when fans can expect "AJ" back in the ring.
"You’ll see Joshua around May or June. I think he really wants a rematch with Daniel Dubois, but regardless of whether Fury wins or loses on December 21 (in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk), that fight will be hard to ignore. They need to face each other before it’s all over. And that could be the next match for them.
If Fury wins, that would be perfect. He could defend his titles against Anthony Joshua. If he loses, then this will be the last dance for both. Either way, it’s an exciting fight. I want Fury to win. I want him to be the world heavyweight champion, because that’s exactly what AJ wants — to try becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.
That’s also why he wants a rematch with Dubois. There’s a title up for grabs. If Fury can win and we can set up a fight with AJ, that would definitely be my top option, but let’s see what happens on December 21.
A Fury vs. Joshua fight would shatter all records. It’s just… I can’t even put it into words… Two million PPV buys. They’d obviously sell out Wembley, but Turki Al-Sheikh would likely want to ensure such a fight happens in Riyadh, perhaps even twice,” Hearn said.
In September, Joshua lost by knockout in the 5th round to Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) in a fight for the IBF heavyweight title.
On December 21, Tyson Fury will have a rematch against WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs). In their first match, the Ukrainian won by split decision, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion (over 200 lbs) in 25 years. Usyk later vacated the IBF title for the Joshua vs. Dubois fight.
