Hearn: "Garcia Might Even Bite Haney"

Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing, responded to Ryan Garcia's (24-1, 20 KOs) disastrous weigh-in ahead of his bout against WBC champion at super lightweight (up to 63.5 kg), Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).

The promoter expressed dismay over the boxer's conduct, suggesting uncertainty about Ryan's appearance at the fight.

"All this initially looked crazy, so expect surprises tomorrow night. Something will happen tomorrow night. Maybe Ryan won't even leave the locker room. Maybe he'll come out crazy and harm Devin. Maybe even bite Haney.

Or he might just refuse to fight and sit on the stool. The latter seems most plausible, but it would be dangerous. All his qualities—speed, power, size, and killer instinct—are there. But I can see the guy is struggling. I must be honest with you.

I don’t think those around him are pleased with his behavior. But you can't just pull people out of a fight. Anything could happen tomorrow night. He could win. He's crazy. That's the reality of the situation.

He was over by 3.5 pounds for a world champion fight. Think about that. It’s not good. He lacks professionalism," said Hearn about Ryan.

Reminder, Ryan did not make the weight category and will not be eligible for the title, even if he defeats Haney.

The fight is scheduled for the night of April 21 in New York. Previously, we informed where the fight could be watched.
