Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn shared his expectations for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), who will face WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) in his next fight.
«If Fury fights like he did in his second fight against Wilder, I think he can stop Usyk. But I don’t think he will fight that way.
I’ve only watched clips of his training, but it seems to me that he’s under a lot of pressure right now. And I think that’s when we’ll see the best version of Fury – similar to his fight with Klitschko, where he was amazing.
I think he had the same pressure going into the fights with Wilder, where he also looked great. However, that wasn’t the case in his fight with Ngannou, or in his fights with Hammer, Schwarz, Wallin.
So, I think Tyson needs the fear factor, and I think he will have it against Usyk because he knows what a good, emotionally stable opponent he is.
This will be a real classic boxing match. No one will rush into exchanging blows, they are both very smart, both move incredibly well in the ring.
Ty Mitchell (Fury’s sparring partner – ed.) told me that Tyson looks better than he’s ever seen him. If that’s the case, he will win on Saturday, that’s my prediction. But if he hasn’t achieved great physical and mental shape, it will be very tough for him,» said Hearn.
Usyk and Fury will meet on May 18 in Saudi Arabia in a bout for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
