Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing and promoter of 36-year-old Briton Anthony Joshua, commented on his fighter’s decision to join the training camp of the undisputed Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

“He always has this constant drive to improve and learn. From experience, I’ve realized that things like this always come from him — as personal decisions or announcements. He’s always curious: ‘How do they do it?’

He trained with Robert Garcia — spent some time with him. He trained with Derrick James — stayed with him for a while too. He’s trained with others as well, but didn’t remain with them.

I know how AJ thinks: he’s probably looking at Usyk’s performances and thinking, ‘I want to go see what it looks like.’ Not in the sense of ‘joining them,’ but simply out of curiosity. I haven’t seen him yet since he’s there, but he’ll make a decision soon,” Hearn said.

Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) last fought in September 2024, when he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois.

In July, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) stopped Dubois in the fifth round to regain his status as the undisputed Heavyweight champion.
